Rain Dampens Court Sports Wimbledon Event

It was not raining in London, but a late evening shower impacted the July 6th Court Sports Wimbledon Event.  The group of 23 members gathered at the pool pavilion around 5 pm.  They enjoyed burgers and hot dogs grilled by Mark Campbell and Harry Snead.  We appreciate the grill masters doing an excellent job of preparing the meat. Side dishes were provided by the members.

After the meal, the group moved to the courts.  Unfortunately, a light rain began and quickly made the pickleball courts unplayable. This competition will be re-scheduled.

The tennis event was able to continue on the clay courts.  Mary Barrows, Susie Hicks, Brad & Cyndie Moore, and William Treichel enjoyed six-minute games scored by Mary Garrison and Mark Campbell.  Players were scored on serves, volleys, drop shots, lobs, passing shots, winners and points won.  The winner of this event was Susie Hicks.   We appreciate Mark’s creativity in providing this fun and unique event for the tennis players.
